Volunteers Needed for Community Build February 26-March 3
We are excited to announce the rebuild of the Virginia Weaver Park Creative Playground. This project is a $600,000 inclusive playground that will not only have the latest in playground equipment but will be an all-inclusive playground for children of all ages and abilities.
The new creative playground will total 12,000 square feet, will be made of 100% recycled plastic lumber that will resemble the existing wooden playground at the park. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2019. The original playground was built by the community, and the community will have the opportunity to participate in the construction of the new structure again! Volunteers are needed from February 26 to March 3. Adults and children age 10 and up are welcome (Children aged 10-14 must work alongside a parent or guardian). Click here to sign up.
Purchase a fence picket and leave your legacy at Virginia Weaver Park
Construction has begun and community members can start planning to leave a lasting mark on the project by purchasing a personalized fence picket that will be displayed at the playground. Pickets are available for purchase for $100 here. These pickets are made from 100% recycled milk jugs - each one using material from about 42 milk jugs! Keep in mind, there is a 22 character limit (with spaces) on these pickets.
For more information give us a call at 972-291-5130. **If you'd like to purchase multiple pickets, please visit the Parks & Recreation offices at 285 Uptown Blvd.**
