Thanks to its hilly terrain and outdoor activities, Cedar Hill is a natural fit for any list of the top neighborhoods in North Texas.

The community, about 30 minutes southwest of Dallas, offers a thriving historic downtown as well as opportunities to get outside and explore.

Visitors flock to the area to hike, bike, picnic, camp and watch birds at nearby Joe Pool Lake and the 1,800-acre Cedar Hill State Park, one of the most visited in the state.

Cedar Hill, which has a population of about 46,000, is also home to Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center and its guided hikes, lectures and wildlife events.

Arts festivals and concerts occur throughout the year. In the fall, locals celebrate the city’s history with the annual Old Settlers’ Reunion and Country Day on the Hill.
